Becoming a life saver - first time foster carers

Life saver

Foster carers play an essential role in our ability to function as a successful rescue organisation. Our amazing volunteers provide a safe and caring environment, supporting the rehabilitation of ex-racing greyhounds.

We are always on the look our for more foster carers but we understand people may have hesitations or questions about what it's like to be a foster carer.

We recently asked a first time foster carer about their apprehensionsand how they over came this as well as what are some of the joys they have experienced since. Here's what they had to say!

Becoming a foster carer can be daunting, but knowing you can help a dog in need is something any animal lover can do. I knew it would be difficult, but I think personally I didn't feel ready to adopt just yet, but having a safe place for a dog to spend time adjusting to a new life is rewarding.

Getting to know the dogs personality and quirks is such a great experience, they are all so unique, Maggie has been so good, she's smart, sassy and a cuddly girl.

As a foster carer, you're saving more than just one greyhound - you save the one in your care and open a new spot for another greyhound to be saved by our program!

Greyt Greys covers the costs of vet bills and essential supplies to care for the greyhound in your care. We also provided ongoing support and guidance when you joing our foster care network.
